This shawl is crafted using the traditional techniques of ‘Suzhou Embroidery’, a Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage. The embroiderers use natural mulberry silk thread and employ flat-stitch, random-stitch and openwork techniques to weave the threads. The motifs depict branches with blossoms and birds, amongst other subjects. The colors blend naturally, creating subtle shading and a three-dimensional, relief-like effect. The front placket is adorned with hand-made silk knotted buttons, whilst the edges feature hand-finished piping, harmoniously combining traditional craftsmanship with the refined texture of contemporary haute couture.

This long dress is meticulously handcrafted using the ‘tie-dye’ technique, an intangible cultural heritage of the Bai people of Dali, Yunnan. The skirt features a three-dimensional asymmetrical cut and a technique involving the patchwork of different fabrics. The tie-dye sections are meticulously hand-tied by Bai artisans using needle and thread, then repeatedly cold-soaked and rinsed in natural plant-fermented dye vats, resulting in a diffused texture that blends floral motifs with geometric patterns. The hem is finished with multiple layers of pleated trim and colourful jacquard ribbons.

This crossbody bag is crafted using the traditional techniques of ‘Uyghur embroidery’, an intangible cultural heritage of Hami, Xinjiang. The body of the bag is crafted from royal blue silk-backed velvet, whilst the exterior features floral motifs inspired by Silk Road culture. Using split natural silk threads combined with seed stitch and dense flat stitch techniques, the stitches are fine, even and smooth, creating a relief-like texture. It seamlessly blends the wild, open-air charm of the Western Regions with the practicality of everyday wear.
